Spacious and beautifully maintained units in futon. Perfect, magnificent location close to everything. Also - short walk to Kyoto station and starbuck, a camp rather than a holiday, and the best sightseeing attractions.

Review:
The hotel is conveniently located near the subway station, making it very easy to get around and explore the city. It is also in close proximity to various sightseeing locations, allowing guests to save time on travel. the rooms are clean and well-maintained, offering a traditional Japanese experience. the staff is dedicated and helpful, ensuring a pleasant stay. Although there is a curfew at 11pm, the hotel accommodates late arrivals, providing a sense of security. One downside is that there is no electric kettle in the rooms, requiring guests to go downstairs for hot water.

Last time I stopped, had extremely spacious and perfect room with the private bathroom. Truly enjoyed the traditional decor! Location: the hotel was very close to Palace, buses & subway, and even local trains to arashimaya and fushimi inari...

Good location near Kyoto station and Yodobashi department store. The room rather easy to get noise from neighbor. It discomfort for limit time of common bathroom and the main door will be locked after 11 pm. This price should include breakfast or wifi service.

I stayed at this place because it was relatively cheap and 5 minute walk to train station. Ryokan style hotel. Quiet at night. Room was clean and comfortable.Easy access to bus and train lines.
Only supposed to use shower or communal bath between 7am-9am and 5-10 pm? I used the communal bath to shower anyway at 6am.Lock up is 11pm to 7am.

We had a truly authentic Japanese experience at this traditional inn. The tatami mats and futon beds made us feel like locals. The location near the station was convenient for exploring Kyoto. The availability of a washing machine and dryer was a bonus. Despite the thin walls, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Our positive impression of Nihonkan started when we walked in the door and were told that we'd been upgraded into a room with a bathroom for free because another party cancelled. We found the staff to be very thoughtful and kind- we assume it is a family business, and they take hospitality seriously. The price was reasonable, the accommodations much like a traditional ryokan, and at an additional 500 yen, the Japanese breakfast was well worth the price. Location too is great- easy to find and very close to the train station. Five of us spent five nights here and were very satisfied.
The building is a little grim on the exterior, but it just makes the quality of the rooms a more pleasant surprise.

Traditional: Ryokan. They kept our bags for us well before check-in time. The staff were lovely and spoke enough English for us to communicate our needs. The room was beautiful; traditional futons and pillows, along with robes and everything needed for a tea ceremony. Really close to the main station - we walked with our packs; only about 2-3 blocks from the closest station exit. Really good value for money!
The outside of the building is deceptive - it really doesn't look that great (old, tiled outer walls), but the inside is beautiful.
